Achievement motivation and learning styles of academic students

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá rozdíly u vybraných učebních stylů mezi nízce a vysoce výkonově motivovanými vysokoškolskými studenty. V teoretické části práce jsou definovány klíčové pojmy a vysvětlen jejich vztah s pojmy příbuznými. Déle jsou zde popsány hlavní východiska studia výkonové motivace a učebních stylů. Výzkumným cílem této práce bylo zjistit, zda u vybraných učebních stylů existuje statisticky signifikantní rozdíl v hodnotách dosažených vysoce a nízce motivovanými vysokoškolskými studenty. Tento cíl byl realizován na výzkumném souboru 101 studentů ostravských vysokých škol za pomoci dotazníku motivace výkonu DMV a dotazníku učebních stylů ILS. Výsledky výzkumu prokázaly hypotézu o vyšší hodnotě osobních zájmů ve skupině vysoce výkonově motivovaných studentů. Mimo uvedené zjištění bylo nalezeno několik dalších signifikantních rozdílů v hodnotách jednotlivých proměnných učebních stylů mezi vysoce a nízce motivovanými vysokoškolskými studenty.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is examining the differences in selected learning styles between low and high achieving college students. In the theoretical part of the thesis there are defined key terms and explained their relationship with related concepts. The main paradigmas of study of achievement motivation and learning styles are described in this paper. The research objective of this work was to find out whether there is a statistically significant difference in the values achieved by high and low-motivated achievers college students in selected learning styles. This objective was realized on 101 students from Ostrava universities using the DMV motivation questionnaire and the ILS teaching style questionnaire. The results of the research have demonstrated the hypothesis of higher value of personal interests in a group of highly motivated students. In addition to these findings, several other significant differences were found in the values of individual learning styles variables among high and low-motivated achievers college students.
