The Needs of Berieved Women after Perinatal Loss

Abstract:

Diplomová práce hledá odpověď na výzkumnou otázku „Jaké potřeby vnímají pozůstalé ženy po perinatální ztrátě dítěte?“ se zaměřením na třetí trimestr těhotenství. V teoretické části se věnuji ukotvení pojmů souvisejících s perinatální ztrátou dítěte, pojmům vnímání a potřeba. Tato část práce představuje také koncept perinatální paliativní péče a její fungování v zahraničí a tuzemsku. K zodpovězení hlavní výzkumné otázky v rámci kvalitativní výzkumné strategie jsem zvolila pět dílčích výzkumných otázek, které zjišťují pět oblastí potřeb vymezených v teoretické části – fyzickou, psychickou, spirituální/duchovní, potřeby ve vztahu k blízkým a potřeby ve vztahu k uplatnění ve společnosti. Z rozhovorů s osmi pozůstalými ženami a následné analýzy vyplývají tři desítky potřeb, jejichž míra saturace přímo ovlivňuje proces truchlení pozůstalých žen. Zjištěné potřeby spadají do velké řady oblastí života. Protože je možné téměř třetinu z těchto potřeb naplnit už během hospitalizace pozůstalé matky, doporučuji v práci zavedení povinného školení sociálních pracovníků v oblasti perinatální paliativní péče. Právě v počátcích procesu truchlení může sociální pracovník poskytovat určitou formu krizové intervence a fungovat podpůrně nejen pro pozůstalou ženu/rodiče, ale také pro celou pozůstalou rodinu, zdravotnický personál, a všechny, kteří se situací přijdou do styku. Výchozím bodem pro intervenci sociálního pracovníka může být znalost potřeb těchto žen.

Abstract:

This Master´s degree thesis looks for an answer to the research question "What needs perceive berieved woman after perinatal loss?", focusing on third trimestre of pregnacy. Theoretical part of this thesis is focused on topics such as perinatal loss, perception and needs. The thesis also presents the concept of perinatal palliative care and its functioning in Czech republic and abroad. To answer the main research question within the framework of a qualitative research strategy, I chose five sub-research questions that identify five areas of needs – physical needs, psychological needs, spiritual needs, needs in relation to relatives and needs in relation to application in society. Interviews with eight berieved women and subsequent analyzes reveal three dozen needs whose saturation rate directly affects the process of mourning of berieved women. The identified needs fall into a wide range of areas of life. Since almost a third of these needs can be satisfied already during the hospitalization of the berieved mother, I recommend providing of mandatory training of social workers in the area of perinatal palliative care. Just in the beginning of the process of mourning, the social worker can provide some form of crisis intervention and work supportively not only for the berieved woman / parent, but also for the berieved family, medical staff, and all those who come into contact with the situation. The starting point for social worker intervention can be knowledge of the needs of these women.
