Nurses' knowledge about the care of epidural catheter

Abstract:

Cíl: Diplomová práce se zabývala informovaností sester v péči o epidurální katetr. Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit, zda úroveň informovanosti závisí na určených faktorech. Mezi faktory ovlivňující informovanost sester bylo zařazeno nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání, specializační vzdělání, délka praxe ve zdravotnictví a typ oddělení, na kterém respondenti pracovali. Metodika: Kvantitativní design výzkumného šetření probíhalo za využití nestandardizovaného dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Do výzkumného vzorku byly zařazeny sestry pracující na jednotkách intenzivní péče a anesteziologicko-resuscitačních odděleních. Celkem bylo do výzkumu zapojeno 117 respondentů. Získaná data byla zpracována pomocí počítačových programů Microsoft Excell a STATISTICA 13. Výsledky: Bylo zjištěno, že informovanost sester v této oblasti je na nízké úrovni. Z maximálního počtu 25 bodů respondenti u znalostních otázek získali průměrně 15,86 bodů. Nebyla prokázána statisticky významná závislost mezi jednotlivými faktory a informovanosti sester. Závěr: Informovanost sester v péči o epidurální katetr je na nízké úrovni a do budoucna by bylo vhodné povědomí v této oblasti zvýšit pomocí úpravy osnov na vysokých školách, či za pomoci seminářů nebo workshopů.

Abstract:

Aims: The master's thesis dealt with the awareness of nurses in the care of the epidural catheter. The aim of this thesis was to find out whether the level of awareness depends on determined factors. The factors influencing the information of nurses included the highest educational attainment, specialized education, length of medical practice and the type of department the respondents worked on. Methodology: The quantitative design of the research was carried out using a non-standardized questionnaire of own construction. The research sample included nurses working in intensive care units and anesthesiology and resuscitation wards. A total of 117 respondents were involved in the research. The obtained data were processed using computer programs Microsoft Excell and STATISTICA 13. Results: It was found that the nurses' awareness in this area is low. Out of a maximum of 25 points, respondents received an average of 15.86 points on knowledge questions. There was no statistically significant correlation between individual factors and nurses' awareness. Conclusion: The awareness of nurses in the care of the epidural catheter is low and in the future it would be advisable to raise awareness in this area by adjusting curricula at universities or by means of seminars or workshops.
