The family of Rožmberk and its position in the provincial and courtly structures of medieval Bohemia

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je nejdříve krátce popsat vývoj vlastních státních struktur v naší zemi do poloviny 15. století a následně jako hlavní téma, na základě vztahů s panovníkem, analyzovat vývoj postavení jednotlivých členů rodu Rožmberků v těchto strukturách středověkých Čech, a okrajově i celého státu. To od prvního známého rodového předka až do abdikace Oldřicha II. z Rožmberka roku 1452. Práce je vytvořena na základě studia literatury a dostupných historických pramenů. Výsledkem je stručné schéma vývoje státních struktur a podrobný vývoj postavení členů rodu Rožmberků v závislosti na jejich vztahu k panovníkovi.

Abstract:

The initial aim of this bachelor thesis is to briefly describe the development of state structures in Czech lands till the first half of the 15th century. The main objective is to analyse the development of positions assumed and held by individual members of the Rožmberk family in state structures of medieval Bohemia (and marginally in the entire state) based on their relationship with the ruler. The thesis encompasses a time period from the Rožmberk´s first known ancestor to the abdication of Oldřich II. of Rožmberk in 1452. The result is a brief overview of the development of state structures and a detailed analysis of the historical development of Rožmberk family in the court/state hierarchy. The work is based on the research of literature as well as available historical sources.
