This bachelor thesis describes next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods and their use in prenatal and preimplantation genetic diagnostics. The first part deals with the history of sequencing, followed by characterization and description of NGS sequencing platforms. Next chapter focuses on prenatal diagnostics using NGS.
