Roma pupils' parents' experience of an assessment of their child in pedagogical and psychological counselling center

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zkušenostmi rodičů romských žáků s posouzením jejich dítěte v pedagogicko-psychologické poradně. Teoretická část práce poskytuje přehled historie i současných trendů ve vzdělávání Romů v České republice včetně inkluzivního konceptu vzdělávání, zároveň s tím se zaobírá problematikou určování etnicity Romů, sociálním vyloučením a inkluzivním vzděláváním. Taktéž popisuje funkce pedagogicko-psychologických poraden a jejich teoretické postupy při mapování vzdělávacích potřeb žáků. Empirická část je výsledkem kvalitativního šetření a čerpá z dat získaných přímo od rodičů romských žáků v rámci polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, tyto zkušenosti pak porovnává s teoretickými koncepty fungování poraden. Práce tak nabízí náhled na rozpory a soulady teoretického rámce pedagogicko-psychologických poraden a prakticky realizovaných postupů při vyhodnocování vzdělávacích potřeb romských žáků.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis adresses the Roma pupils' parents' experiences of an assessment of their child in pedagogical and psychological counseling center. The theoretical part provides an overview of the history and current trends in the education of Roma in the Czech Republic, including the inclusive education and also deals with the issue of determining the Roma ethnicity, social exclusion and inclusive education. It also describes the functions of pedagogical and psychological counseling centers and their theoretical procedures in identifying pupils' educational needs. The empirical part is the result of a qualitative survey and is built on data obtained directly from the parents of Roma pupils in semi-structured interviews, comparing these experiences with theoretical concepts of functioning of the centers. The thesis thus offers an insight into the contradictions and concordances of the theoretical framework of pedagogical and psychological counseling centers and the practically implemented procedures in assessing the educational needs of Roma pupils.
