Islamic fundamentalism in Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá islámským fundamentalismem, jeho podobou v Egyptě a také islamistickým hnutím nazývaným Muslimské bratrstvo, u kterého je rozebrán jeho vznik datovaný k roku 1928, historický vývoj, působení v politické sféře, události kolem arabského jara a následně pád tohoto hnutí. Začátek práce je věnován popisu různých pojmů, které souvisí s islámským fundamentalismem a které je nutné zmínit pro správné pochopení této problematiky. Zbytek práce je již zaměřen na situaci a události, které se odehráli přímo v Egyptě a souvisí s činností Muslimského bratrstva.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with Islamic fundamentalism, its manifestation in Egypt, and also examines the Islamist movement called the Muslim Brotherhood, analyzing its origin dating back to 1928, historical development, activities in the political sphere, events surrounding the Arab Spring, and subsequently, the fall of this movement. The beginning of the work is devoted to the description of various concepts related to Islamic fundamentalism that are necessary to mention for a proper understanding of this issue. The remainder of the work is focused on the situation and events that took place directly in Egypt and are related to the activities of the Muslim Brotherhood.
