The Moral Foundations of Politics

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o legitimitě současné politické moci, o korupci a klientelismu na české politické scéně. Tyto témata jsou v současnosti nejpalčivějšími problémy tuzemské politiky. V úvodu jsem stanovil cíle, jejichž oprávněnost jsem ověřil na zadaných hypotézách. Úvodní část diplomové práce se zabývá tématem knihy Iana Shapira „Morální základy politiky“, ve které autor obhajuje liberální demokracii a porovnává ji s jinými názorovými proudy a snaží se vysvětlit, proč je nejlepším způsobem vládnutí. Další část práce pojednává o současné krizi společnosti a pokouší se odpovědět, zda je i krizí liberální demokracie. Dále jsou v diplomové práci podrobně popsány některé negativní jevy vyskytující se v demokratickém politickém systému a to: korupce a klientelismus, tedy jevy, které ohrožují demokracii. Další část této práce je věnována příčinám, důsledkům, boji proti těmto jevům, konkrétním kauzám a snaží najít způsob, jak zmíněné problémy vyřešit a najít cestu z krize. Poslední část se věnuje a výzkumům důvěry občanů v současný politický systém, v politiky a názorům na korupci v české politice a veřejném sektoru. Pokouší se i odpovědět na otázku, proč se nedaří tyto negativní jevy v tuzemských podmínkách téměř eliminovat.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the legitimacy of the current political power, corruption and clientelism on the Czech political scene. These topics are currently the most pressing issues of domestic policy. In the beginning I set goals, which I verified according to the given hypothesis. The introductory part of the thesis deals with the topic of the Ian Shapiro´s book, "The moral foundations of politics," in which the author defends liberal democracy, compares it with other opinion flows and tries to explain why democracy is the best way of governing. Another part of the thesis deals with the current crisis of society and attempts to answer the question of crisis of the liberal democracy. Furthermore, the thesis describes some negative phenomena occurring in the democratic political system, nominally: corruption and cronyism, the phenomena that threaten democracy. The next part is devoted to the causes, consequences and fight against these phenomena, it also tries to find a solution to these problems and find a way out of the crisis. The last part is devoted to the research of a public belief in the current political system, the policies and people´s opinions on corruption in Czech politics and the public sector. Thesis also tries to answer the question, why these negative phenomena can be barely eliminated in our domestic conditions.
