Alois Dryák: Building of Faculty of Law, Masaryk university

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje budově Právnické fakulty Masarykovy univerzity v Brně, navržené architektem Aloisem Dryákem. Na začátku práce je přiblížen historický kontext, v němž stavba vznikala, a to zvláště se zaměřením na založení Masarykovy univerzity a projekt Akademického náměstí. Stěžejní část práce se zabývá samotnou budovou Právnické fakulty, a to především okolnostmi její výstavby a pozdějšími stavebními zásahy – od přestaveb provedených gestapem až po úpravy z doby nedávné. Samozřejmostí je představení současné podoby budovy, jak z exteriéru, tak z interiéru. V závěrečné části práce je budova představena v kontextu tvorby architekta Aloise Dryáka, klasicizujícího monumentalismu a prvorepublikové architektury školních budov.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with building of the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University designed by architect Alois Dryák. In the beginning of the thesis is introduced historic context in which the building had been arising, especially founding of the Masaryk University and project of Academic Square. The main part of the work is focused on the building of the Faculty of Law itself, namely on circumstances of its constructing and on following alterations – from rebuilding made by gestapo up to recent reconstructions. A matter of course is description of the current state of building both from its exterior and interior. In the final part of the thesis the building is introduced in context of Alois Dryák’s artwork, of monumental neoclassical architecture and of architecture of school buildings in First Czechoslovak Republic.
