This bachelor thesis presents the composer and one of the most influential violin virtuosos of the nineteenth century, Joseph Joachim. It is divided into three parts. First, it describes Joachim's life, then his compositional work, and, finally, it examines the influence of Joachim's friendship with Johaness Brahms on both artists' work and musical career.
