This thesis deals with the evolution of the case system in Old English and in Latin. Its goal is to find out what led to the loss of the rich case system of synthetic cases in both languages and to describe the consequences of the transition from a synthetic system to an analytic one. Ci poniamo lo scopo di scoprire le cause della perdita di un ricco sistema dei casi delle due lingue e di descrivere le conseguenze della transizione dal sistema sintetico al sistema analitico.
