Application of artificial insemination in dog breeding

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zpracovaná na téma uplatnění umělé inseminace v chovu psů. V práci jsou popsány pohlavní soustavy psa a feny a jejich funkce. Dále je v práci řešena problematika pohlavního cyklu feny a určení vhodné doby pro inseminaci. Protože pro úspěšnou inseminaci je důležitá kvalita ejakulátu, je v práci podrobně rozebráno jeho složení, odběr a metody hodnocení kvality ejakulátu. Z důvodů použití importovaných inseminačních dávek i jejich možného exportu, jsou v práci rozebrány i možnosti konzervace ejakulátu. V neposlední řadě se práce zabývá historií a současností inseminace v chovu psů. V rámci bakalářské práce byla zpracována data, která byla získána z dotazníku týkajícího se inseminace psů. Celkem v průběhu necelých 2 měsíců odpovědělo 38 chovatelů, kteří mají zkušenost s inseminací – úspěšnou i neúspěšnou. V dotazníku jsou zahrnuty otázky, jako která plemena se nejčastěji inseminují, kdy byly inseminace provedeny, jakým způsobem, zda byly úspěšné, případně kolik se z vrhu narodilo štěňat.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is elaborated on the topic of application of artificial inseminati-on in dog breeding. The work describes the sexual systems of dogs and bitches and their functions. Furthermore, the work addresses the issue of the female sexual cycle and de-termining the appropriate time for insemination. Because the quality of ejaculate is im-portant for successful insemination, its composition, collection and quality methods of ejaculate evaluation are discussed in detail. Due to the use of imported insemination reasons for doses and their possible export, the work also discusses the possibilities of ejaculate conservation. In conclusion, the work deals with the history and present of insemination in dog breeding. As part of the bachelor's thesis, data were processed, which were processed from a questionnaire concerning the insemination of dogs. A total of 38 breeders who have experience with insemination - successful and unsuccessful - responded in less than 2 months. The questionnaire includes questions such as which breeds are most often inse-minated, when the inseminations were performed, how they were successful, or how many puppies were born from the litter.
