The development of the natural change of the population of the town of Hlučín and the village of Petřkovice from the end of the 18th century to the First World War

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je postihnout demografický vývoj populace města Hlučín ve srovnání s progresivně se rozvíjející obcí Petřkovice v období od konce 18. století do první světové války. Práce je zaměřena na přirozenou měnu obyvatelstva, která je analyzována na základě excerpce církevních matrik hlučínského děkanátu. Využitím agregativní metody jsou získány dlouhé časové řady počtů narozených, sňatků a zemřelých, které jsou následně porovnávány. Přirozená měna obyvatelstva je sledována v souvislosti s tezemi Zděňka Pavlíka o nástupu demografické revoluce. Hlučín a Petřkovice byly do roku 1918 součástí Pruského Slezska, ale na hranicích s Rakouským Slezskem, přičemž se nacházely v blízkosti prudce se rozvíjející ostravské průmyslové oblasti a centra Rakouského Slezska, Opavy. Práce komparuje městské obyvatelstvo s venkovským s ohledem na dopady průmyslové revoluce k demografickému vývoji.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to describe the demographic development of the population of the town of Hlučín compared to the progressively developing village Petřkovice from the end of the 18th century to the First World War. The thesis is focused on the natural change of the population, which is analyzed on the basis of excerpts of the church registers of the Hlučín Deanery. By using the aggregation method, long time series of births, marriages and deceased are obtained, which are then compared. The natural change of the population is monitored in connection with the theories of Zdeněk Pavlík about the onset of the demographic revolution. Hlučín and Petřkovice were located in Prussian Silesia until 1918, but on the border with Austria Silesia, near the rapidly developing industrial area of Ostrava and the center of Austria Silesia, Opava. The thesis compares the urban population with the rural population in light of the impact of the industrial revolution on demographic developments.
