BI and DWH Solution on Oracle Platform

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je navrhnout ucelenou architekturu business intelligence řešení a doporučené řešení datového skladu na platformě Oracle, při respektování soudobých obecně platných praktik a doporučení, tzv. best-practice. Součástí práce je volba jednotlivých komponent datového skladu a business intelligence, zhodnocení jejich vhodnosti pro danou funkci v rámci navrhovaného business intelligence řešení a začlenění těchto komponent do návrhu uceleného business intelligence řešení. Práce se skládá ze čtyř hlavních částí. První část je věnovaná obecnější problematice business intelligence a datových skladů a je vstupní specifikací BI na platformě Oracle. Druhá část popisuje jednotlivé softwarové a hardwarové business intelligence komponenty a komponenty pro datové sklady společnosti Oracle. Ve třetí části navrhuji ucelenou architekturu business intelligence řešení, postavenou na jednotlivých komponentách společnosti Oracle. V této části se také zabývám srovnáním jednotlivých komponent, určením jejich vhodnosti použití a některým dalším doporučením. Poslední část je věnována stručnému zhodnocení ekonomických a mimoekonomických přínosů business intelligence řešení na platformě Oracle.

Abstract:

The main objective of the thesis is to propose complex business intelligence and data warehouse architecture on the Oracle platform respecting current best-practice and recommendations. Part of the thesis is focused on selecting the right components for data warehousing and business intelligence, as well as on evaluating their suitability within the proposed business intelligence architecture and incorporating of these components into the complex business intelligence architecture. My thesis consists of four parts. The first part is dedicated to more general description of business intelligence and data warehousing subject and it represents entry level specification of BI on the Oracle platform. The second part describes individual software and hardware components of business intelligence solution based on the Oracle platform. In the third part I am proposing a complex business intelligence solution, based on particular Oracle components. There I also compare some individual components, determine their suitability in respect of proposed architecture and introduce some other recommendations. The last part of my thesis briefly describes economic and non-economic benefits of business intelligence solution based on the Oracle platform.
