Bigorexia - new eating disorder

Abstract:

Tato práce byla zaměřena na sběr co největšího počtu teoretických informací a faktů o tématu bigorexie jako nové poruchy příjmu potravy. V teoretické práci je nastíněna problematika týkající se bigorexie. Nejprve jsou zde popsány nejznámější formy poruchy příjmu potravy, kterými jsou mentální anorexie a mentální bulimie, jejich projevy a diagnostika. Následně je teoretická část práce věnována bigorexii a jejímu dopadu na lidský organismus. Zabývá se nejčastějšími příčinami vzniku této poruchy, skupinami, kterých se tato porucha týká, diagnóze a v neposlední řadě terapii. V praktické části jsou vyhodnoceny shromážděné dotazníky od mužů, kteří pravidelně navštěvují fitness centrum a patří tak do rizikové skupiny pro vznik této poruchy. Je zde potvrzena teorie, že většina mužů navštěvujících posilovnu disponuje některými ze znaků bigorexie a je tedy jasné, že kompulzivní cvičení a stravování mohou dát vzniku této poruchy.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to review and summarize the known knowledge about the bigorexia as a new eating disorder and disease. The theoretical part introduces to the bigorexia problematic. At first desribes known food eating disorders and their most common incidence. The most common occurrence are anorexia nervousa , bulimia nervousa, this thesis describes their hallmarks and impact on the human health. This body further summarizes the current knowledge of bigorexia and its impact on the human organism. The thesis elaborates the most common triggers that leads to the disease. The thesis also predict the risk factors and risk groups for the bigorexia. Further more the thesis introduces possible venue for therapy. The experimental chapter analyze the data collected by the questionnaire among male population visiting the gym on the regular basis as this group appear to be at risk. This group supports the theory that majority of the males visitng the gym show some sort of bigorexia symptoms and it is clear that compulsive exercise and eating can give rise to this disorder.
