Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá obdobím před první světovou válkou, válečným obdobím a poválečným obdobím ve Velké Británii. Hlavním cílem práce je prozkoumat vliv první světové války na sociální, ekonomické a politické postavení žen .První část diplomové práce je věnována postavení žen, různých sociálních vrstev, ve společnosti v předválečném období. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována právu žen v manželtví a zaměstnání. Druhá část se zabývá emancipací žen a to především ohledně volebního práva a politickému postavení žen před válkou. První světová válka přinesla mnoho změn především z hlediska společenského a ekonomického postavení žen čímž se zabývá třetí část této práce. Poslední část se zaměřuje na poválečné období, kterévýznamné změnami v postavení žen a to jak v sociálním, ekonomickém, tak především politickém postavení.

Abstract:

This Diploma thesis deals with the influence of WWI on the social, economic and political status of women in Great Britain. The first part of the diploma thesis is dedicated to the position of women, of different social classes, within the society and their rights in marriage and employment before the war. The second part provides detailed account of women’s suffrage movement, and women’s political status prior to the war. There were many changes concerning women’s economic and social position during the war, and this is discussed in the third part. Special care is given to the mobilisation of women for war work, which was an important step in their change of status in the society. The last chapter focuses on the post-war changes which occurred, and how they further shaped, and influenced women’s status. The focus is given to women’s demobilisation, gender roles and lastly the winning of the vote.
