Building stone in the history of Slaný city

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci jsou, vedle literární rešerše zaměřené z jedné strany na stavební historii města Slaného a jeho geologického podloží, předloženy výsledky petrografických a RTG analýz vybraných stavebních kamenů a jejich pojiv, odebraných během záchranného archeologického průzkumu. Záchranný archeologický výzkum předcházel výstavbě parkovacího domu ve městě Slaném. Během přípravných prací byly objeveny suterénní prostory několika historických staveb. Pro petrografické a RTG analýzy byly proto odebrány vzorky nejčastěji se opakujících stavebních kamenů (pískovců, opuk) a vápenných, smíšených až jílových spárovacích pojiv. Pro porovnání provenience byl odebrán vzorek pískovce a opuky z bývalých lomů ve Slaném. Bylo prokázáno že jako stavební kameny byly nejčastěji používány hrubě zrnité pískovce s železitým tmelem a opuky. Opuky obsahují více než 60% kalcitu. Opuky s takto vysokými (a vyššími) obsahy karbonátů mohly být využívány pro pálení vápna potřebného do malt. U méně významných staveb se na spárování používala i méně kvalitní pojiva jílová, případně i smíšená. Všechny studované stavební materiály jsou místní provenience.

Abstract:

Beside literature searches, focused on the history of civil engineering in the town of Slaný and its geological underlying bed, the bachelor thesis presents the results of petrographic and X ray analyses of selected building stones and their binders, sampled in the course of pre-construction archaeological survey. This survey was conducted before start of construction of the multi-storey car park in Slaný. In the course of the preparation work, basement storeys of several historical structures were discovered. For this reason, samples of the most frequently found building stones (sandstone, cretaceous marl) as well as lime and mixed to clay-based binders were taken. For comparison of provenience, samples of sandstone and cretaceous marl from former quarry in Slaný were taken. It has been demonstrated that coarse-grained sandstone with ferric bond and cretaceous marl were the most frequently used building stones. Content of calcite in cretaceous marls exceeds 60 per cent. Cretaceous marls with such a high (and even higher) content of carbonates could have been used for firing lime necessary for mortar. For jointing purposes in less important structures, lower grade binders clay or mixed) were used as well. All construction materials under study are of local provenience.
