Hieronymus Count Colloredo in the First Quarter of the 18th Century. On the Social Nets of a Baroque Aristocrat

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce pojednává o možnostech získávání informací, které se nabízely ambicióznímu aristokratovi doby vrcholného baroka na příkladu hraběte Jeronýma Colloreda, markýze di Santa Sophia (1674-1726). V počátcích budování kariéry byli pro hraběte Colloreda významným zdrojem informací jeho čtyři příbuzní z rodu Kinských - dopisoval si s tchánem Václavem Norbertem Oktaviánem a se třemi švagry (Bernardem Františkem Antonínem, Františkem Ferdinandem a Štěpánem Vilémem). Poté, co hrabě Colloredo získal post habsburského guvernéra v Miláně, představoval pro něj spojnici s Královstvím českým jeho zeť, Jan Norbert Libštejnský z Kolovrat, který mimo jiné dohlížel na jeho české statky. O dění ve Vídni informoval hraběte Colloreda agent Jan Oktavián Sachs, kterého hrabě navíc pověřoval různými úkoly. Práce je zasazena do první poloviny vlády Karla VI. a klade si za cíl přinést další poznatky o informačních a sociálních sítích, které si budovali ambiciózní aristokraté.

Abstract:

The graduation thesis deals with options in data acquisition, which had an ambitious aristocrat in baroque epoch, for example count Hieronymus Colloredo, marquis di Santa Sophia (1674-1726). During building his career, four members of Kinsky family (his father-in-law Václav Norbert Oktavián and his three brothers-in-law: Bernard František Antonín, František Ferdinand and Štěpán Vilém) were for Count Colloredo an important source of infrormation at the beginning. When Hieronymus Colloredo held an office of the Habsburg governor in Milan, he employed Jan Oktavián Sachs, an agent in Vienna, who was entrusted with bringing news from the capital and the court and who solved many other tasks. At that time, Jan Norbert Libštejnský from Kolovrat, Count´s son-in-law, brought him information from Bohemia and inspected his Bohemian domains, also. The thesis disserts upon the first half of Charles VI.´s rule, the aim is to bring new knowledge about information and social nets, that built the ambitious aristocrats.
