Pharmacological approaches for modulating the p53 signaling pathway

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to describe the pharmacological approaches for modulation and regulation of the p53 signaling pathway. The thesis provides general information about tumor-supresor gene TP53 and its coded protein p53. The thesis also summarizes strategies how to pharmacologically affect p53 directly or via its interaction partners. Mutant or deregulated form of p53 is common in different cancer cells to which it provides oncogenic functions. Targeting the p53 protein in anticancer therapy appears as a promissing way of fight against this disease.

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat farmakologické možnosti ovlivnění a regulace signální dráhy proteinu p53. Předložená práce obsahuje obecné informace o nádorovém supresoru TP53 a o proteinu p53, který tento gen kóduje. Rovněž se věnuje farmakologickým postupům, které ovlivňuji p53 přímo, nebo využívají k regulaci p53 jeho interakčních partnerů. Mutantní nebo deregulovaná forma p53 je přítomná v různých nádorových buňkách, kterým dodává onkogenní funkce. Cílení protinádorové léčby právě na protein p53 se jeví jako slibná možnost boje proti nádorovým onemocněním.
