'Akce K' and Persecution of the Redemptorist Order

Abstract:

Cílem předkládané diplomové práce je analýza státních proticírkevních opatření souvisejících s plánem Akce K a následnou likvidací řeholních řádů se zaměřením na řád redemptoristů. Po únoru 1948 se postavení církve zásadně změnilo. Vláda postupně uváděla do praxe různé zákony a opatření proticírkevního charakteru. Od poloviny roku 1949 byla sestavována rozsáhlá evidence klášterů a jejich obyvatel v celém Československu. V roce 1950 byl zkonstruován tzv. proces Machalka a spol., první monstrproces s významnými osobnosti československé katolické církve. Nedlouho poté následovala Akce K, kdy ozbrojení příslušníci policie v nočních hodinách obsadili klášterní budovy a následně odvezli řeholníky do centralizačních a internačních klášterů v pohraničí republiky. Práce je tematicky rozdělena do tří kapitol, které jsou pro lepší orientaci členěny hlavně chronologicky.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is the analysis of the state anti-ecclesiastical measures related to the plan of 'Akce K', and subsequent liquidation of religious orders, focusing on the Redemptorist order. After February 1948, the position of the Church has fundamentally changed. The government gradually introduced into practice various laws and measures of anti-ecclesiastical character. Since mid-1949, was compiled extensive inventory of monasteries and their residents was taken throughout Czechoslovakia. In 1950, the so-called trial Machalka et al. took place. It was the first trial with the important personalities of the Czechoslovak Catholic Church. Not long after that came 'Akce K', an event during which armed members of the police occupied monastery buildings during the night and then took the religious into centralized and internment monasteries in the border of the country. The thesis is thematically divided into three chapters which are then divided chronologically for the purpose of better orientation.
