Personality traits, resilience and self-efficacy of traditional sandstone climbers and sport climbers: a correlation study

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá tím, zdali se od sebe liší tradiční lezci na pískovcové skále a sportovní lezci. Odlišnosti byly hledány konkrétně ve třech oblastech – v rysech osobnosti, resilienci a self-efficacy. V teoretické části bylo důležité nejprve rozebrat téma samotného horolezectví, jeho základní druhy a pojmy. A to kvůli tomu, abychom mohli lépe pochopit, jak může lezení souviset s psychickou stránkou člověka a v čem mohou spočívat specifika pískovcových a sportovních lezců. Dále jsem se věnovala třem psychickým aspektům, které byly pro výzkum klíčové, a to tedy rysům osobnosti, resilienci a self-efficacy. To zahrnovalo jak teoretické zakotvení těchto aspektů, tak i výzkumy, které byly v souvislosti s nimi a lezením, případně sportem obecně, uskutečněny. V empirické části jsem pomocí testové baterie skládající se ze 3 dílčích dotazníků zkoumala rysy osobnosti, úroveň resilience a self-efficacy u pískovcových a sportovních lezců. Výsledky obou skupin jsem potom porovnávala. Zjistila jsem, že rozdíly mezi pískovcovými a sportovními lezci nejsou statisticky významné.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the difference between traditional sandstone climbers and sports climbers. Differences were examined in three areas - personality traits, resilience, and self-efficacy. The theoretical part first dealt with the topic of climbing. It was important because of better understanding the connection between climbing and the psychic aspects of climbers and where the specifics of sandstone and sports climbers can be found. Then I focused on personality traits, resilience and self-efficacy as crucial aspects for the research. It included the theoretical ground of these aspects and the investigations that were related to them and climbing, eventually other sports. In the empirical part I examined the personality traits, the resilience and the self-efficacy of sandstone and sport climbers using a test battery. After comparing the results of both groups I have found that the differences between sandstone and sport climbers are not statistically significant.
