The Barriers in the Work of the Beginning Teacher

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou začínajících učitelů a bariér, se kterými se střetávají v etapě svého profesního startu. Jejím cílem je popsat tyto bariéry a limity v práci začínajících učitelů v období dvou let od vstupu do profese. V teoretické části jsou sumarizovány poznatky o učiteli mateřské školy, jeho profesních činnostech a kompetencích. V centru pozornosti jsou také poznatky týkající se začínajícího učitele, období profesního startu a problémů, se kterými se začínající učitelé v začátcích své profese potýkají. Empirická část práce je věnována kvalitativně orientovanému výzkumu a jeho interpretaci. Na základě výsledků výzkumu se objevilo několik problematických oblastí, s nimiž se začínající učitelé nejčastěji setkávají. Ke zjištění výzkumu řadíme zejména dezorientaci v nastaveném režimu a fungování mateřské školy, ale i počáteční nejistotu ve své profesní schopnosti i nepřipravenost na profesní činnosti učitelky mateřské školy ze studia. Z toho vyplývá i vnímání nízkého sociálního statusu jejich profese i jejich častá nemocnost. K dalším zjištěním řadíme problémy při komunikaci s rodiči i komplikované vztahy a komunikaci v pracovním kolektivu. Nedílnou součástí zjištění je i počáteční nízká autorita učitele a nevyhovující materiální zázemí a vybavení mateřské školy.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a topic of teachers in the beginning stages of their careers and the obstacles they face in this phase. The goal of this thesis is to describe these obstacles in the work of beginning teachers in the time period within two years of entering their career. In the theoretical part, we summarize the knowledge about the nursery-school teachers, their activities and competences. In particular, we focus on the knowledge about teachers in the beginning stages of their careers and problems which they have to face in this early stage. The empirical part of the thesis encompasses the qualitativaly oriented research and its interpretation. On the basis of the research results, we were able to identify several issues which the beginning teachers encounter most often. Among these, the prominent roles are played by the teacher's disorientation in the given work regime, the lack of knowledge about the way the nursery school operates, initial doubts about the teacher's professional capabilities, and the unpreparedness for the work of a nursery-school teacher from the university studies. These factors lead to a low social status of this profession and frequent high sickness rates. Furthermore, problems in communication with parents and coworkers and complicated relationships on the workplace do not ease the burden. The low authority of the beginning teacher as well as the unsupportive material facilities of nursery schools are inseparable parts of the survey findings.
