Degradation of oil in the turbine of a small hydroelectric power plant

Abstract:

Turbinové oleje jsou jedním z mnoha typů průmyslových olejů. Používají se pro různé typy parních turbín ale i pro hydroturbíny. Na rozdíl od motorových olejů jsou turbinové oleje z velké části tvořeny základovým olejem a obsahují jen velmi malé množství aditiv. I malé množství však může významně ovlivnit jejich odolnost proti oxidaci, pěnivost, deemulgační vlastnosti nebo viskózní stabilitu. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá degradací turbinového oleje v turbíně malé vodní elektrárny. Pro experiment byl sestaven soubor vzorků upotřebeného oleje během jednoho cyklu výměny oleje a byl doplněn o vzorek oleje nového. Všechny vzorky byly následně podrobeny tribotechnické diagnostice. Vzhledem k použití oleje byl sledován obsah vody, oxidace, kyselost, viskozita a hustota. Výše uvedené parametry byly laboratorně vyhodnoceny. V závěru práce jsou formulována doporučení, která jsou uplatnitelná v praxi.

Abstract:

Turbine oils are one of many types of industrial oils. They are used for various types of steam turbines but also for hydroturbines. Unlike engine oils, turbine oils are largely base oil and contain only a very small amount of additives. However, even small amounts of additives can significantly affect oxidation resistance, foaming, demulsifying properties or viscosity stability of oils. This diploma thesis deals with the degradation of turbine oil in the turbine of a small hydroelectric power plant. For the experiment, a set of used oil samples was compiled during one oil change cycle and a new oil sample was added. All samples were subsequently subjected to tribotechnical diagnostics. Due to the use of oil, water content, oxidation, acidity, viscosity and density were monitored. The stated parameters were evaluated. At the end of the thesis, there are recommendations formulated that are applicable in practice.
