The musical language of Miroslav Vitouš on Chick Corea's record "Now He Sings, Now He Sobs"

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Hudební jazyk Miroslava Vitouše na desce Chicka Corey „Now He Sings, Now He Sobs“ pojednává o českém kontrabasistovi Miroslavu Vitoušovi, jeho životu a hudebním jazyce na desce „Now He Sings, Now He Sobs“. Hlavním cílem práce je přiblížit jeho specifický styl hry na kontrabas, poznat blíže jeho hudební jazyk na určitých nahrávkách této desky a poukázat na velký přínos Miroslava Vitouše ve hře na kontrabas pro další generace basistů. Částečné cíle jsou představit život a osobnost tohoto hudebníka mezi lety 1966–1988, prozkoumat jeho bohatou hudební kariéru a v neposlední řadě v krátkosti zmínit jeho hudební činnost v posledních letech.

Abstract:

Thesis The musical language of Miroslav Vitouš on Chick Corea’s record “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs” deals with the Czech double bassist Miroslav Vitouš, his life and musical language on the album “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs”. The main goal of the work is to present his specific style of playing the upright bass, to get to know his musical language better on certain recordings of this album and to point out the huge impact of Miroslav Vitouš in playing the double bass for the next generations of bassists. The partial goals are to introduce the life and personality of this musician, to explore his rich musical career between years 1966 and 1988, last but not least, to highlight his musical activities in recent years.
