Influence of position and type of thermocouple by temperature measurements accuracy in the field of induction heating

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá měřením teploty pomocí termoelektrických článků v oblasti indukčních ohřevů, zejména pak při povrchovém kontinuálním kalení. Zkoumá vhodnost daného typu termočlánku pro tuto aplikaci a vliv jeho přítomnosti na naměřené hodnoty a na kalící proces. Pomocí rešerše platných technických norem a dalších zdrojů jsou stanoveny termočlánky vhodné pro měření teploty při procesu kalení vzhledem k dosahovaným teplotám a přítomnosti chladícího média, které u některých termočlánků způsobuje jejich rychlou degradaci. Na základě numerického modelu a provedeného experimentu spočívajícího v indukčním ohřevu několika vzorků rozdílných druhů ocelí jsou popsány vlivy přítomnosti termočlánku na naměřenou teplotu. Termočlánky umístěné na povrchu vsázky jsou vzhledem k prudkým změnám teploty při kalení velmi namáhány a měření má omezenou spolehlivost. Umístění termočlánků dovnitř vsázky do vyvrtaných otvorů vede ke změně tepelné vodivosti v dané oblasti. Okolí termočlánku se tak ohřívá více než zbytek vsázky. Popsaný efekt je patrný zejména, je-li termočlánek umístěn bezprostředně pod povrchem vsázky.

Abstract:

Presented bachelor thesis deals with temperature measurement using thermocouples in the field of induction heating, especially in surface hardening. It investigates the suitability of a specific type of thermocouple for this application and the influence of its presence on the measured values and on the hardening process. By means of current technical standards and other sources are determined suitable thermocouples for temperature measurements during the hardening process with regard to the temperatures reached and the influece of a cooling medium. It causes rapid degradation of some types of termocouples. The effects of the presence of a thermocouple are described on the basis of a numerical model and an experiment. Thermocouples located on the surface of the load are highly stressed due to the rapid temperature changes. Placing the thermocouples inside the load in drilled holes leads to a change in the thermal conductivity of the area. The area around the thermocouple is heated more than the rest of the steel bar. This effect is particularly noticeable when the thermocouple is placed immediately below the surface.
