Use of alternative and augmentative communication for people with more severe intellectual disabilities

Abstract:

Teoretická část bakalářské práce je zaměřena na informace týkající se mentální retardace. V souvislosti s tím je v této práci zmíněna edukace, komunikace a problémy v komunikaci, se kterými se osoby s mentální retardací potýkají. Další kapitoly teoretické části se věnují alternativní a augmentativní komunikaci. Je zde charakterizována alternativní a augmentativní komunikace, dále je zde klasifikace a metody alternativní a augmentativní komunikace, a také charakteristika jednotlivých vybraných systémů používaných u dětí s mentální retardací. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na způsob komunikace a využívání systémů alternativní a augmentativní komunikace u žáků vzdělávaných podle Rehabilitačního vzdělávacího programu Pomocné školy. Pozornost je orientována na vybrané žáky z několika školských zařízení, na jejich komunikativní dovednosti a volbu systémů alternativní a augmentativní komunikace u každého z nich. Na uvedených příkladech je vidět, že úroveň komunikačních schopností závisí na mnoha faktorech. Ve většině případů se pedagogičtí pracovníci snaží udělat maximum pro to, aby schopnost komunikace byla dostačující v kontaktu se společností. Závěrečná část je věnována krátkému ohlédnutí do vývoje péče o osoby s handicapem a zjištění, že společnost v tomto směru dokázala velký pokrok.

Abstract:

The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is focused on information related to mental retardation. In this context, it is mentioned in this work of education, communication and communication problems, with which persons with mental retardation face. Other chapters of the theoretical part are dedicated to alternative and augmentative communication. There is characterized by alternative and augmentative communication, there is also the classification and methods of alternative and augmentative communication, and also a characteristic of the system selected for use in children with mental retardation. The practical part is focused on the way of communication and use of alternative and augmentative communication for pupils educated under Rehabilitation training program assisted schools. Attention here is oriented to the selected students from a number of schools, their communication skills and the choice of systems of alternative and augmentative communication for each of them. The above examples can be seen that the level of communication skills is dependent on many factors. In most cases, teaching staff trying to do our best to ensure that the ability of communication was sufficient in contact with the community. The final section is devoted to briefly look back to the history of development of care of persons with disabilities and found that the community in this direction achieved a great progress.
