Základnou tézou tejto práce je myšlienka, že každá normatívna teória by mala spĺňať tzv. aktérske limity, ktoré sú dané architektúrou ľudského kognitívneho systému. Tento prístup je stelesnený v kritériu ekologickej racionality ako všeobecnom pravidle pre konštrukciu normatívnych systémov.
