Narrativity in the context of interactive films and interactive dramas.

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se budeme věnovat vyprávění v kontextu interaktivních dramat a interaktivních filmů. Nejprve se pokusíme nastínit problémy spojené s pojmy interaktivní film a interaktivní drama, neboť historicky existovalo několik velmi odlišných pohledů. Zde především budeme vycházet z postojů Bernarda Perrona a Jonathana Lessarda. Druhá část se bude věnovat otázkám narativity v kontextu digitálních her. Ve třetí části práce se pokusíme nastínit hlavní prvky, jež umožňují interaktivní příběh, přičemž v případě interaktivních filmů a dramat omezení programovacích nástrojů nám umožňuje uvažovat pouze o „hrání“ interaktivního příběhu než o jeho tvoření. Obrátíme se tady k definici interaktivního vyprávění od Ruth Aylettové, Sandy Loucharta a Any Paivové. Nezbytnou součástí práce je uvádění příkladů interaktivních filmů/dramat: Fahrenheit (2005), Heavy Rain (2011) a Façade (2005).

Abstract:

In this work we will deal with storytelling in the context of interactive dramas and interactive movies. First of all we will try to outline the problems associated with definitions of interactive movies and interactive dramas, since historically there were several quite different perceptions of these terms. Here we will be based on a stand of Bernard Perron and Jonathan Lessard. The second part will refer to the main issues with narrative in the context of digital games. In the third part of the work we will try to map some main elements that enable interactive story, and in the case of interactive movies and dramas limitations of programming tools allow us to think only about „playing“ an interactive story rather than creating it. We will refer to a definition of interactive storytelling provided by Ruth Aylett, Sandy Louchart and Ana Paiva. An essential part of the work is placing examples of interactive movies/dramas: Fahrenheit (2005), Heavy Rain (2011), Façade (2005).
