Petrological characteristics of building stone and construction materials from castle Rokštejn

Abstract:

Diplomová práce shrnuje dosavadní výsledky studia a dále je rozšiřuje o nové poznatky o stavebních materiálech použitých při stavbě a opravě hradu Rokštejna nacházejícího se nedaleko města Přímělkov. Literární rešerše zahrnuje stavebně-historický vývoj hradu, geologii podloží a blízkého okolí, použití vzdušného vápna a stavební keramiky. U odebraných vzorků stavebních materiálů, historických a novodobých malt a omítek a stavební keramiky, byl proveden detailní mikroskopický rozbor použitého plniva a pojiva k určení jejich provenience. Studiem látkového složení písčité frakce a vápenného pojiva, byly identifikovány stavební fáze hradu Rokštejna. Ve všech stavebních etapách bylo prokázáno, že písek použitý v maltách a omítkách pochází z eluvií jihlavského masivu a z blízkých hornin jednotvárné nebo pestré jednotky moldanubika. Vápenec použitý pro pálení vzdušného vápna byl pravděpodobně těžen z lokality Hradisko u obce Bransouze. Výsledky jsou dokumentovány řadou fotografií.

Abstract:

The thesis summarizes the existing results of the examination and next extend about a new knowledges of the building materials used in the construction and reconstruction of the Rokštejn castle near the town Přímělkov. The literature search involves the building historical development of the castle, geology of the bedrock and surroundings, use of air lime and building ceramics. On the basis of samples of building materials, historical and modern mortars and plasters, and building ceramics a detailed microscopic analysis of the used filling and binding materials was made to determine their provenience. The building phases of the Rokštejn castle were identified by an examination of the composition of the sand fraction and lime binder. It has been proved that in all the building phases the sand used in mortars and plasters originates from eluvial deposits of the Jihlava massif and nearby rocks of a monotonous or various unit of the Moldanubicum. The limestone used for making air lime was probably mined in the locality Hradisko by the village Bransouze. The results are documented by numerous photographs.
