Current opera and operetta production of Moravian Theatre in Olomouc and its public

Abstract:

Hudební divadlo v Olomouci prošlo za dobu své existence bohatým vývojem. S proměnami společenských a kulturních podmínek se také mění role, které hudební divadlo ve společnosti zastává. Cílem této práce je na případu Moravského divadla Olomouc prodiskutovat současnou podobu těchto rolí, a navrhnout výzkumný postup, který by umožnil odpovědět na následující otázky: Kdo a proč chodí dnes v Olomouci na operu či operetu? Jaké má současné olomoucké publikum od místního hudebního divadla očekávání, a co mu v tomto směru Moravské divadlo nabízí?

Abstract:

Musical theatre in Olomouc has experienced a rich development in the course of its existence. The roles which the musical theatre plays in society changes along with changing social and cultural conditions. The aim of this work is to discuss the current form of these roles on the case of the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, and to design a research method which would make it possible to answer the following questions: Who visits opera and operetta performances in Olomouc these days? What expectations does the current opera audience in Olomouc has of the local musical theatre, and what can the Moravian Theatre offer its audience in this respect?
