Types and analysis of cyber-attacks with focus on ransomware

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu kybernetické bezpečnosti. Konkrétně druhům kybernetických útoků se zaměřením na ransomware. Práce se dělí na dvě části, a to teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny důležité pojmy, vysvětlení jednotlivých kybernetických útoků a detailnější rozbor útoku typu ransomware. V praktické části je popsána struktura fiktivní firmy, která byla napadena ransomwarem. Je zde popsán detailní postup, jak se ransomware pravděpodobně do firmy dostal, a kam se rozšířil. Následně je popsán rozsah škod v dané firmě a její postupné zotavení zpět do provozuschopného stavu s následnými opatřeními k minimalizování nebezpečí dalšího útoku.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is dedicated to the topic of cybersecurity, specifically the types of cyber attacks with a focus on ransomware. The thesis is divided into two parts, namely the theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, important concepts and explanations of different cyber attacks and a more detailed analysis of ransomware attacks are presented. Furthermore, the practical part describes the structure of a fictitious company that has been attacked by ransomware. It describes in detail how the ransomware probably got into the company and where it spread. The extent of the damage to the company and its gradual recovery back to an operational state is then described, with subsequent measures to minimize the risk of another attack.
