The European Neighbourhood Policy: contrast between two dimensions

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma „Evropská politika sousedství: kontrast dvou dimenzí“ se věnuje tzv. Evropské politice sousedství (EPS), kterou EU sleduje vůči svému jižnímu (Středomoří) a východnímu sousedství (východní Evropa a jižní Kavkaz), tj. státům, které nejsou jejími členy a jejichž území leží v blízkosti EU. Tato práce si dává za cíl předložit ucelený popis geneze a vývoje EPS v časovém úseku od jejího vzniku až do současnosti s důrazem na rozdíly mezi jednotlivými dimenzemi a v kontextu se všemi relevantními událostmi a záležitostmi tento vývoj provázejícími. Hlavní zájem práce je však směřován k novým iniciativám, tj. Unie pro Středomoří a Východní partnerství, které se uvnitř jižní a východní dimenze vyvíjejí, a mění tak původní podobu EPS. Tyto nové iniciativy jsou následně podrobené komparaci ve třech rovinách vzájemných vztahů EU a partnerských států.

Abstract:

The thesis "The European Neighbourhood Policy: contrast between two dimensions" is dedicated to the so-called European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), carried on by the EU towards its southern (Mediterranean) and eastern neighbourhoods (Eastern Europe and South Caucasus), i.e. towards non-EU countries located close to the EU territories. The goal of the thesis is to present a coherent description of the ENP genesis and its development in time from the very beginning up to the present days with emphasis on the differences between particular dimensions and in the context with relevant events and issues this development was accompanied by. The main focus of the work is addressed to the new initiatives, namely the Union for the Mediterranean and the Eastern Partnership, which are being developed within the southern and eastern dimension and thus changing the original image of ENP. These new initiatives are in consequence put to the comparison in three levels of mutual relations between the EU and partnership states.
