The issue of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the Novy Jicin region

Abstract:

Creutzfeldt-Jakobova nemoc je nejčastěji se vyskytující lidskou prionovou nemocí. Jedná se o zatím neléčitelné, smrtelné, neurodegenerativní onemocnění, charakteristické spongiformními změnami mozkové tkáně. V teoretické části je uveden přehled všech známých prionových onemocnění postihujících lidi i zvířata, dále charakteristika původce onemocnění, pár údajů z historie, možnosti přenosu, patogeneze, klinika nemoci a diagnostické metody. Nechybí ani preventivní opatření a informace o surveillance. V praktické části je provedena analýza dat získaných z Krajské hygienické stanice v Moravskoslezském kraji se sídlem v Ostravě a Státního zdravotního ústavu se sídlem v Praze. Je zde znázorněn výskyt Creutzfeldt-Jakobovy nemoci v České republice, v Moravskoslezském kraji včetně srovnání podle okresů, se zaměřením na oblast Novojičínska, kde byl zaznamenán vyšší počet případů familiární formy onemocnění. V této části diplomové práce jsou pro přiblížení nemoci umístěny kazuistiky sporadické a familiární formy Creutzfeldt-Jakobovy nemoci. Z výsledků analýzy vyplývá, že celkem bylo v České republice v období 2000-2011 hlášeno 126 onemocnění Creutzfeldt-Jakobovy nemoci. Nejvyšší počet případů byl zaznamenán v roce 2009, kdy bylo hlášeno 19 onemocnění. Moravskoslezský kraj zaujímá druhé místo ve výskytu Creutzfeldt-Jakobovy nemoci mezi jednotlivými kraji. V rámci tohoto kraje připadá nejvyšší výskyt na okres Nový Jičín.

Abstract:

Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is the most common among the types of human prion diseases. It is currently incurable, fatal, neurodegenerative disease characterized by spongiform changes in brain tissue. The theoretical part provides an overview of all known prion diseases affecting humans and animals, further there is described a characterization of the causative agent, a few details from the history, the possibility of transmission, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms and signs, and diagnostic methods. There are also mentioned preventive measures and information about surveillance. The practical part involves an analysis of data obtained from the Regional Public Health Authority of Moravian-Silesian Region based in Ostrava and from the National Institute of Public Health in Prague. There is shown the incidence of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the Czech Republic and in the Moravian-Silesian Region, including a comparison between districts, with a focus on Novy Jicin Region which noted a higher number of cases of familial form of the illness. In this part of the thesis, there are placed case reports of sporadic and familial forms of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, to clarify the disease. The results of the analysis show that there were reported 126 cases of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the Czech Republic in the years 2000-2011. The highest number of cases was recorded in 2009, when 19 cases of the illness were notified. The Moravian-Silesian region is the second one in occurance of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease among the other regions. The highest occurance of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in the Moravian-Silesian region has been registered in the district of Novy Jicin
