The financial literacy of students of the FSE UJEP

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá finanční gramotností studentů z Fakulty sociálně ekonomické Univerzity Jana Evangelisty Purkyně (dále jen: "FSE UJEP"). Hlavním cílem práce bylo zjistit úrovně finanční gramotnosti současných studentů FSE UJEP, prostřednictvím měření finančních znalostí, včetně daňových znalostí, i úrovně ekonomické zodpovědnosti, a následně komparovat výsledky studentů napříč studijními programy. Sběr dat proběhl papírovou a elektronickou formou. Byl sestaven dotazník a vědomostní test. Na základě výsledků šetření byly vypočítány úrovně finanční gramotnosti jednotlivých studentů a následně vyhodnoceny pomocí chí-kvadrát testu nezávislosti. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že úroveň finanční gramotnosti je slabě ovlivněna studijním programem studentů. Následná kontrola výsledků pomocí post HOC analýz závislost potvrdila jen v případě porovnání studentů ze studijního programu Ekonomika a management vůči studentům ze studijního programu Sociální politika a sociální práce.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on financial literacy of students from the Faculty of Socio-Economic University of Jan Evangelista Purkyne (hereinafter: "FSE UJEP"). The main goal of the thesis was to determine the levels of financial literacy of current FSE UJEP students, by measuring financial knowledge, including tax knowledge, as well as the level of economic responsibility, and then compare results of students by their study programs. Data was collected in paper and electronic form. A questionnaire and a knowledge test were compiled. The financial literacy levels of individual students were calculated based on the results of the survey and subsequently evaluated using the chi-square independence test. The results showed that the level of financial literacy is slightly influenced by the students' study program. The follow-up control of the results with the usage of post-HOC analyses confirmed the dependence when comparing the students from the Economics and Management study program to students from the Social Policy and Social Work study program.program to students from the Social Policy and Social Work study program.
