Sociology of Music and Music Subcultures: Professionalization within a Frame of Subculture.

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce je sondou do životů lidí, kteří svou profesní dráhu spojili s pražskou HC/punkovou scénou. Je sledováno období od momentu, kdy se poprvé setkali s prvky charakteristickými pro punkovou a hardcoreovou subkulturou, přes vstup do subkultury až k nalezení pracovního uplatnění v jejím rámci. Autorka zapojuje biografickou metodu sociologie a pomocí komparace biografií hledá odpověď na otázku: Jakým způsobem se člověk stane profesionálem v subkultuře. Stěžejní část vlastního výzkumu tvoří hloubková interwiev s pěti pražskými DJs, kteří se za dobu působení v subkultuře vyprofilovali až do pozice profesionálů, kteří přispívají k udržování chodu a reprodukci subkultury. V biografiích jsou ve snaze o vysvětlení kauzálních řetězců v životech a rozhodování participantů zohledňovány výhody, nevýhody a specifika života spojeného s českou HC/punkovou scénou.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor´s thesis is the analysis of the life path of people, who joint their careers with the HC/punk subculture. Their lives are pursued and analysed from the first moment they met characteristic elements of punk and hardcore subculture, through the entry to that subculture and the moment they found a job in its frame, up to their present situation. Biographical method of sociology is used. Via comparing the biographies author is looking for an answer to the central question: How do people become profesionals in the frame of thein subculture? The main part of the inquiry consists of depth interview made with five Prague DJs, whose time spent in the subculture led up to the position of professionals who contribute to the maintenance and reproduction of subculture. In order to explain the causal chains in lives and decisions of participants, biographies are analysed in such a way that advantages and disadvantages associated with life joined with specifics of Czech HC / punk scene can be detected and concidered.
