Awareness of Traditional Chinese Medicine and its Popularity in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Studentka se ve své diplomové práci zaměří na vnímání tradiční čínské medicíny v České republice. Hlavními body zaměření bude role tradiční čínské medicíny v životech jedinců, kteří jí provozují nebo využívají a jejich názor na medicínu západní. Dále bude studentku zajímat, zda je tradiční čínská medicína v České republice populární. Práce bude teoreticky vycházet z oblasti medicínské antropologie. V teoretické části studentka vymezí historii tradiční čínské medicíny, její charakteristické znaky a metody. Kvalitativní výzkum bude realizován pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Předmětem výzkumu budou jedinci provozující tradiční čínskou medicínu, ale i ti, kteří ji využívají. Práce bude zahrnovat i osobní zkušenost studentky. Součástí práce bude audiovizuální výstup.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the perception of traditional Chinese medicine in the Czech Republic. The main points of focus will be the role of traditional Chinese medicine in the lives of individuals who practice or use it and their opinion of Western medicine. The student will also be interested in whether traditional Chinese medicine is popular in the Czech Republic. The work will theoretically be based on the field of medical anthropology. In the theoretical part, the student defines the history of traditional Chinese medicine, its hallmarks and methods. Qualitative research will be carried out through semi-structured interviews. The subjects of the research will be individuals practicing traditional Chinese medicine, but also those who use it. The work will also include the student's personal experience. The work will include an audio-visual output.
