Allergic diseases of Dogs

Abstract:

Alergická onemocnění psů jsou nepřiměřené reakce imunitního systému na látky z vnějšího prostředí, které jsou pro zdravé jedince neškodné. Hypersenzitivní reakce I. – IV. typu mají důležitou roli v patogenezi alergií, mohou však způsobovat i jiná nealergická např. autoimunitní onemocnění. Alergeny způsobující alergické reakce jsou enviromentálního původu nebo z potravy, chemickou skladbou nejčastěji proteiny, nebo glykoproteiny. Diagnostika se provádí formou intradermálních kožních testů, alergen-specifické IgE sérologie. Pro diagnostiku potravních alergií se používají orálně expoziční testy (eliminační dieta), gastroskopické testování potravní senzitivity (GFST), kolonoskopická alergenová provokace (COLAP). Mezi hlavní kategorie alergických onemocnění psů se řadí bleší alergická dermatitis, atopická dermatitis a potravní alergie. Vetšina alergických reakcí se u psů projevuje v podobě dermatitid, v případě potravních alergií gastrointestinálními problémy. Terapie spočívá především v omezení kontaktu zvířete s alergenem společně se symptomatickou léčbu, ve vhodných případech je možná i alergen specifická imunoterapie (hyposenzibilizace).

Abstract:

The canine allergic or atopic diseases are inadequate immune reactions to the enviromental substance harmless for non allergic individuals. The hypersensitivity reactions type I – IV play important role in allergy pathogenesis. They also cause another diseases, for example the autoimmune diseases. The main sources of the allergens causing atopic diseases are enviromental or dietary. They are usually protein or glycoprotein chemical structure. The diagnosis is made via the intradermal skin tests and the alergen specific IgE serology. The oral exposition tests (elimination diet), the gastroscopic food sensitivity testing (GFST), the colonoscopic alergen provocation are used for the food allergy diagnosis. Dog allergies fall into three main categories: flea allergic dermatitis, atopy, and food allergy. Dermatitis is the most common symptom of canine allergy, gastrointestinal problems can be present in food allergies. The therapy includes the allergen avoidance, the symptomatic therapy, in adequate conditions the alergen specific immunotherapy (hyposensitization) is used.
