Postsocialistic Ostrava from the perspective of journalist

Abstract:

Výstupem této bakalářské práce je série publicistických článků na téma Postsocialistická Ostrava vycházejících z teoretických základů sociologie města a sociální geografie. Výběr témat jednotlivých textů se inspiruje procesy, které autoři teoretických konceptů identifikují ve městech, jež zažila přechod z centrálně plánovaného hospodářství a totalitního systému na demokratický systém a tržně orientované hospodářství. Čtenáři se tak snaží poskytnout pohled na některé jevy ve městě, dané do souvislostí s jejich společenským původem a kontextem, kterým se sociologie města a sociální geografie zabývá. Těmito spolu souvisejícími jevy jsou například deindustrializace, suburbanizace či úpadek panelových sídlišť. Vybraná témata jsou zpracována formou publicistického interview, reportáže a feature. Součástí práce je ukotvení podoby těchto žánrů v odborné literatuře a v kontextu cílového média, kterým je regionální příloha MF Dnes pro Moravskoslezský kraj.

Abstract:

The output of this bachelor thesis is a sequence of journalist articles on the topic of Post-socialist Ostrava based on theoretical foundations of urban sociology and social geography. Topic’s selection is inspired by processes that authors of theoretical concepts identify in cities that experienced transition from a centrally planned economy and a totalitarian system to democracy and market economy. Texts are attempting to provide readers insight into the phenomena of postsocialist city in the context of their social origins and background, which urban sociology and social geography are studying. These related phenomena are deindustrialization, suburbanization or e.g. decline of panel housing. Selected themes are developed through genre of interview, reportage and feature story. The form of these genres is set in the context of literature and in the context of the target medium, which is regional part of daily newspaper MF Dnes for Moravian-Silesian region.
