The Role of a Nurse in Clinical Research

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou účasti všeobecných sester v klinickém výzkumu. V teoretické části jsou uvedeny ucelené informace z oblasti klinického výzkumu, konkrétně v rovině klinických studií a ve vztahu k sestrám. Zmiňuje se zde nezbytná etická odpovědnost práce v souladu se správnou klinickou praxí. Uvádí se v ní hlavní role sester, které zaujímají v rámci svého působení v klinických studiích, a dále se poukazuje na možnosti jejich vzdělávání v tomto oboru. Praktická část práce obsahuje smíšený design výzkumu. Zabývá se především zjišťováním toho, jaké měly sestry povědomí o rozsahu práce v klinických studiích, mapuje rozsah a náplň jejich práce, hlavní motivace a případné problémy, s nimiž se při svých činnostech potýkají. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat situaci a uvést přehled aktuálních informací z oblasti klinického výzkumu, konkrétně v rovině klinických studií, a vytvořit ucelený přehled současných poznatků o možnostech uplatnění všeobecných sester v oblasti klinického výzkumu. Na základě zjištěných informací bude vypracován edukační materiál určený (nejen) sestrám, které se budou, nebo by se chtěly podílet na práci v klinických studiích.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of participation of general nurses in clinical research. In the theoretical part, comprehensive information from the field of clinical research is presented, specifically in the level of clinical trials and in relation to nurses. The necessity of ethical responsibility of work in accordance with appropriate good clinical practice is mentioned here. Special focus is put on the main role of nurses that they have within their participation in clinical trials. Furthermore, the possibilities of further education of nurses in this area are dealt with. The practical part of this thesis contains a mixed design research. This part concentrates on the determination of the nurses´ awareness of their scope of work in clinical trials, mapping the scope of their work and the workload, their main motivation and possible problems they encounter in their activities. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the situation and to provide an overview of up-to-date information in the area of clinical research, especially in the level of clinical trials, and to provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge about the possibilities of general nursing in the area of clinical research. Based on the gathered information, the aim of this work is to elaborate a set of resource materials intended (not only) for nurses who will be or would like to be involved in clinical trials.
