Coping with stressful situations in healthcare within the framework of professional practice

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce "Zvládání zátěžových situací ve zdravotnictví v rámci odborných praxí" se zabývá pohledem studentů 1. a 3. ročníků oboru zdravotnický záchranář a zdravotnické záchranářství na náročnost a kvalitu vykonávaných školních praxí. Teoretická část práce zpracovala témata stres, strach i zátěžové situace ve zdravotnictví, která byla hlavním zaměřením mé práce. Z obecně známých zátěžových situací, se kterými přijdou studenti oboru zdravotnický záchranář do styku, jsem rozpracovala práci s agresivními pacienty, dětskými pacienty a s pacienty staršího věku či v terminálním stádiu nemoci, neznámé prostředí a komunikaci s novým pracovním týmem a hromadné neštěstí. V rámci dotazované skupiny v průzkumné fázi práce, jsem také přiblížila charakteristiku oboru zdravotnického záchranáře a průběh odborných praxí. Praktická část analyzovala, se kterými ze zátěžových situací se studenti prvních a třetích ročníků setkávají na svých odborných praxích nejen na nemocničních odděleních, ale také u výjezdových jednotek u zdravotnické záchranné služby. Z posbíraných elektronických dotazníků jsem zkoumala, co dělá studentům na praxích obavy, ale i radost.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis "Coping with stressful situations in healthcare within the framework of professional practice" studies how first-year and third-year paramedic students view the level of difficulty and quality of school professional practices. The theoretical part of this thesis dealt with the main focus of my work - the topics of stress, fear and stressful situations in healthcare. I further explored the common stressful situations that paramedic students are exposed to, such as working with aggressive patients, child patients, elder patients, and terminally ill patients, as well as working in an unknown environment, communicating with a new team and responding to mass casualty incidents. During the research part of the thesis, I also outlined the characteristics of the field of paramedics and the course of professional practices through an interviewed group of respondents. The practical part analysed, which of the stressful situations are first-year and third-year students exposed to while working in the hospital wards and working with paramedics of the emergency medical services. When concluding collected electronic questionnaires, I studied what causes fear and brings joy to students during the professional practice.
