The subjective perception of the quality of life of seniors with Alzheimer's disease

Abstract:

Diplomová práce si klade za cíl, popsat subjektivní vnímání kvality života seniorů trpících Alzheimerovou nemocí. V první kapitole je obsah zaměřen na samotnou Alzheimerovu nemoc jako jednu z nejčastějších forem demence. Druhá kapitola se zabývá kvalitou života seniorů s Alzheimerovou nemocí žijících v institucionální péči a zaměřuje se na jejich individuální reálné potřeby. Třetí kapitola nahlíží na současnou situaci ve zdravotnictví a v sociálních službách. Poukazuje na vzájemnou propojenost a spolupráci těchto dvou resorů a zaměřuje se na aspekty institucionální péče o seniory s Alzheimerovou nemocí. Empirická část tvoří kvalitativní výzkumnou strategii, která je založena na porozumění lidem v sociálních situacích. V samotném výzkumu byl použit polostrukturovaný rozhovor (též rozhovor pomocí návodu) doplněný o vlastní skryté pozorování a o analýzu dat z dokumentace. Hlavním cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit subjektivní vnímání kvality života seniorů s Alzheimerovou nemocí. Dílčím cílem bylo stanovit, v jakých oblastech došlo u jednotlivých klientů s Alzheimerovou nemocí žijících v institucionální péči ke změnám na kvalitě života. Dále pak analyzovat tyto oblasti, charakterizovat jejich subjektivní pocity a popsat následný vliv. Dále pak zjistit, jak subjektivně vnímají a pohlížejí na kvalitu života spojenou s adaptací na novém prostředí, jak byli o své nemoci informováni, jak vnímají změny způsobené dopadem nemoci, jak využívají volný čas k uplatňováním podpůrných metod, zda mají zájem o aktivizační činnosti, jak participují s personálem, zda jsou iniciativní se zapojováním do sebepéče, zda jsou uspokojovány jejich potřeby, jak reagují klienti v kontaktu s rodinou a jak se následný kontakt s rodinnou odráží na jejich kvalitě života.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to describe the subjective perception of the quality of seniors? life suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The first chapter focuses on Alzheimer's disease itself as one of the most common forms of dementia. The second chapter deals with the quality of life of seniors with Alzheimer's disease living in an institutional care and focuses on their actual individual needs. The third chapter looks at the current situation in the health resort and social services. It highlights mutual interconnectedness and cooperation between these two resorts and focuses on various aspects of institutional care for the elderly with Alzheimer's disease. The empirical part consists of a qualitative research strategy based on understanding of people in different social situations. The actual research used a semistructured interview as well as an interview with instructions completed with a hidden observation and a data analysis from documents. The main aim of the research was to determine the subjective perception of the quality of life of older people with Alzheimer's disease. Partial aims were to determine in which areas the changes in the quality of life of individual clients with Alzheimer's disease living in an institutional care occurred, to analyze these areas, to characterize their subjective feelings and to describe resulting effects. Furthermore, it aimed to determine how these elderly people subjectively perceive the quality of life associated with their adaptation to the new environment, how they were informed about their illness, how they perceive changes caused by the impacts of the disease, how they use their leisure time to apply support methods, whether they are interested in motivational activities, how they participate with the staff, whether they are proactive engaging in a self-care, whether their needs are being met, how the clients interact with their families and how the resulting contact with the family reflects in the quality of their life.
