Light and scent

Abstract:

Základem této diplomové práce je praktické umělecké dílo. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vůni, jak prostřednictvím čichu ovlivňuje naše vědomí i nevědomí a zda má vůně v umění své místo. Představuje umělce a výstavy věnované vůni. Rozebírá parfém a jeho nové, ale zároveň staré odvětví zvané niche. Dále se zaměřuje na aromaterapii, éterické oleje, její představitele, nové směry a oblasti, ve kterých působí. Krátce pojednává o onemocněních a léčbě pomocí aromaterapie. Ve druhé části je popsán vznik uměleckého díla – aromaterapeutické lampy, která má konstrukci ze dřeva, stínidla jsou vytvořena z ručního papíru a vypráví příběh, jako světelný zdroj využívá žárovku. Následuje návrh výroby lampy pro každého. V závěru práce se nacházejí edukační návrhy, které souvisejí s teoretickou i praktickou částí a práci propojují v pedagogické rovině.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis is hands-on handmade piece of art. The theoretical part describes sense of smell in terms of its influence on our consciousness and subconsciousness and finds out whether there is a space for smell in art. This part presents the most significant authors and their points of view. The topics of aromatherapy and essential oils are included with emphasis to its most significant protagonists and directions. The medical usage is described here as well. In the second part of the thesis is discussed the process of making the aromatherapy lamp. The lamp is lit by electric light bulb and has a wooden body construction and is shaded by handmade papers with stampings telling a story. A manual on how to create an aroma-lamp is written in this section. The summary contains scenarios of using aroma-lap and smells in education.
