Storage comparison in the Kubernetes platform

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat současné dostupné varianty úložišť pro Kubernetes, které bude následovat implementací zvolených platforem Portworx, CEPH a Longhorn v cloudovém prostředí Microsoft Azure. Celá práce je rozvržena do čtyř základních kapitol, do kterých nejsou brány úvod a závěr. První tři kapitoly jsou pojaty analýzou platformy Kubernetes a objasnění výrazů Cloud Computing, Mikroslužby a orchestrace. Součástí těchto tří kapitol budou dále distribuce jednotlivých úložišť, nástroje spojené s vývojem aplikací v orchestračním nástroji Kubernetes a analýza cloudových platforem. Poslední kapitola je koncipována pro definování use case modelu, který byl zvolen v této práci jako zpracování multimediálních dat získané z fotobanky, pro testování technických parametrů jednotlivých distribucí. Závěrem této práce jsou srovnání získaných technických i uživatelských parametrů a představení finálních výsledků.

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the currently available storage variants for Kubernetes, which will be followed by the implementation of selected platforms: Portworx, CEPH, and Longhorn in the cloud environment Microsoft Azure. The whole work is divided into four basic chapters, which do not include an introduction and conclusion. The first three chapters are conceived by analyzing the Kubernetes platform and clarifying the terms: Cloud Computing, Microservices, and Orchestration. These three chapters will also include the distribution of individual repositories, tools associated with the development of applications in the Kubernetes orchestration tool, and the analysis of cloud platforms. The last chapter is designed to define the use case model, which was chosen in this work as the processing of multimedia data obtained from the photobank, to test the technical parameters of individual distributions. The conclusion of this work is comparisons of obtained technical and user parameters and presentation of final results.
