Role of the International Monetary Fund in solving economic crisis

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis analyzes the theoretical and practical operation of the International Monetary Fund on the basis of knowledge obtained from processed literature. The first chapter focuses on introducing the IMF as important international financial institution. This section contains information about establishment of the IMF, about its structure, its main objectives and functions. Also about membership and members of the IMF, obtaining funds and loan activities of the fund. Second chapter describes on specific crisis affected selected countries the way in which the IMF contributes to addressing consequences of crisis in such affected countries. This chapter also captures the dissenting views and critical comments on how the IMF help in these situations took place. The third chapter provides information about proposed reforms and changes in the fund, which the IMF accepts due to the ongoing global economic crisis in order to mitigate the crisis and contribute to the creation of a new global financial architecture.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá analýzou teoretického a praktického fungovania Medzinárodného menového fondu na základe poznatkov získaných zo spracovanej literatúry. Prvá kapitola práce je zameraná na predstavenie MMF ako významnej medzinárodnej finančnej inštitúcie. Táto časť obsahuje informácie o založení MMF, o jeho štruktúre, jeho hlavných cieľoch a funkciách. Tiež o členstve a členoch MMF, získavaní finančných zdrojov a úverovej činnosti fondu. Druhá kapitola práce opisuje na konkrétnych krízou postihnutých vybraných krajinách, akým spôsobom sa podieľa MMF fond na riešení a odstraňovaní následkov kríz v takto postihnutých krajinách. Táto kapitola tiež zachytáva nesúhlasné postoje a kritické vyjadrenia k spôsobu, akým MMF pomoc v uvedených situáciách uskutočňoval. Tretia kapitola prináša informácie o navrhovaných reformách a zmenách v činnosti fondu, ku ktorým MMF pristupuje v dôsledku prebiehajúcej svetovej hospodárskej krízy s cieľom zmierňovať dopady kríz a podieľať sa na tvorbe novej globálnej finančnej architektúry.
