Content analysis of thematic unit Primates in selected Biology textbooks for primary and secondary schools

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnovala obsahové analýze tematického celku Primáti ve vybraných učebnicích pro základní a střední školy. Byla provedena obsahová analýza celkem třinácti učebnic, která se na základě zvolených výzkumných otázek zaměřovala na různé obsahové aspekty analyzovaného celku. Zkoumány byly rozdíly v pojetí a prezentaci taxonomického systému primátu, uváděných a vyobrazovaných zástupcích, pojetí člověka jako jednoho z primátů, příbuznost člověka s primáty, a to, jak učebnice pracuje s pojmem Rh-faktor. Získaná data byla uspořádána do tabulek a podrobně vyhodnocena. Výsledky analýzy dokládají odlišnosti ve zpracování jednotlivých učebnic.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the content analysis of the thematic unit Primates in selected textbooks for primary and grammar schools. A content analysis of thirteen textbooks was performed, which, based on selected research questions, focused on various content aspects of the analysed unit. Differences in the conception and presentation of the taxonomic system of primates, the presented and depicted representatives, the conception of the human as one of the primates, the relations between humans and primates, and how the textbook works with the concept of Rh-factor were examined. The obtained data were arranged in tables and evaluated in detail. The results of the analysis demonstrate the differences in the processing of individual textbooks.
