Analysis of export and distribution of Slovak music production

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis defines the contemporary phenomenon of the Slovak music production export that focuses on the presentation of new musical talents at the international level and streamlines the exchange of information between the professionals in the music industry. The author describes the principles of present-day digital distribution in the context of the ongoing remediation of audio media - the return of analog media in the digital age, the multimedia strategies of publishers etc. It analyzes the current situation of the alternative music scene in Slovakia, the origin, development of the export offices and their importance in the music industry. It presents the individual principles of digital distribution and export of music, especially through the LALA Music Slovak Export office in Slovakia. Further, the thesis presents the Slovak showcase festival Sharpe, which is closely related to the export office, the most important organizations associated with it, emphasizes the importance of its existence at present and encourages follow-up research in this area.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca definuje súčasný́ fenomén exportu slovenskej hudobnej produkcie, ktorý sa zameriava na prezentáciu nových hudobných talentov na medzinárodnej úrovni a urýchľuje výmenu informácií medzi profesionálmi hudobného priemyslu. Autorka popisuje princípy súčasnej digitálnej distribúcie v kontexte pokračujúcej remediácie hudobných nosičov – návrat analógových nosičov v digitálnej ére, multimediálne stratégie vydavateľstiev a pod. Analyzuje aktuálnu situáciu alternatívnej hudobnej scény na Slovensku, vznik a vývoj exportných kancelárií, ich ekonomickú situáciu a význam v hudobnom priemysle. Predstavuje jednotlivé princípy digitálnej distribúcie a exportu hudby, predovšetkým prostredníctvom kancelárie LALA Music Slovak Export na Slovensku. Ďalej prezentuje slovenský showcase festival Sharpe, ktorý s exportnou kanceláriou úzko spolupracuje, poukazuje na dôležitosť jej existencie v súčasnosti i budúcnosti a nabáda na nadväzujúci výskum v tejto oblasti.
