Monitoring physical activity of students in first and second grades of secondary schools by using Garmin fitness bracelets

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá výzkumem pohybové aktivity žáků středních škol. Konkrétně je zaměřena na probandy prvních a druhých ročníků Gymnázia v Rokycanech. Monitoringu se zúčastnilo 43 žáků (z toho 21 dívek a 22 chlapců). Všichni monitorovaní žáci museli po dobu jednoho týdne nosit krokoměry Yamax SW 700, dále fitness náramek Garmin Vívofit a náramek Garmin Vívofit 3. Cílem práce je zjištění úrovně pohybové aktivity adolescentů s využitím fitness náramků. Získaná data bylo nutné dále porovnat na základě genderové příslušnosti žáků a zjistit jestli plní stanovenou normu 11 000 kroků denně. Posledním cílem je vytvoření doporučení pro zvýšení pohybové aktivity žáků. Diplomová práce nejprve seznamuje čtenáře s teoretickými východisky pohybové aktivity adolescentů, dále se samotným procesem monitorování, se statistickým zpracováním získaných dat a v závěru i s výsledky výzkumu a jejich interpretací.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis contains the research of physical activities of high school students. Specifically, it focuses on the group of the first and second grades of the high school in Rokycany. The monitoring was attended by 43 students (of which 21 girls and 22 boys).All monitored students had to wear pedometers Yamax SW 700, for one week, and the Garmin Vívofit bracelet and also Garmin Vívofit 3 bracelet. The aim of the work is to determine the level of physical activity of adolescents, using the fitness bracelet. The data obtained had to be further compared on the basis of the gender and also to see, if they fulfill the standard, set to 11000 steps a day. The last objective is to develop the recommendations for increasing of the student's physical activity. Diploma thesis first acquaints the readers with theoretical background of physical activity of adolescents, furthermore with the monitoring process, it acquaints with the statistic processing of the acquired data and in conclusion is the results of research and their interpretation.
