Conformity according to the sex of the individual and group members

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá faktory, ovlivňujícími míru konformního chování. Cílem je srovnat současné výsledky výzkumu s výsledky studií z předchozích let. V teoretické části nejprve vymezuji konformitu jako psychosociální jev. Následně vysvětluji konformní jednání z hlediska příčin, faktorů a důsledků. Dále navazuji souhrnem původních i navazujících výzkumů, zabývajících se touto problematikou. Zaměřuji se především na výsledky, ale také na metodu provedení těchto výzkumů. Odděleně podrobně popisuji Aschův experiment jako metodu, kterou používám ve výzkumné části práce. Výzkumnou metodou práce je tedy replikace původního Aschova experimentu. Zaměřila jsem se však na vztah míry konformity, pohlaví zkoumané osoby i ostatních členů skupiny. Cílem práce je tedy zjistit, jaká je míra konformity u dnešních studentů, zda se muži a ženy liší v míře konformitě a zda je tento rozdíl ovlivněn tím, jestli je jedinec členem skupiny mužů či skupiny žen.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the factors that may affect the rate of conformal behavior. The goal is compare the present results with the results of studies from previous years.In the theoretical part I first define the conformity as a psychosocial phenomenon. Then I explain the causes, factors and consequences of conformal behavior. Subsequently I summarize the results of the original and follow-up studies, which associated with this issue. I focus primarily on the results, but also on research methods. Separately I describe the Asch´s experient in details as a method which I use in the reserach part of the thesis. The research method of the thesis is replication of the original Asch´s experiment, but I focuse on dependence of conformity, sex of the examine person and the sex of the other group members. The goal is to find out the rate of conformity of today´s students. Then find out whether men and women differ in the rate of conformity and whether this diference is influenced by the inclusion of individual to the group of men or group of women.
