Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá schopnosťou adaptácie na konflikt u činnostne orientovaných jedincov a stavovo orientovaných jedincov. Konflikty v spracovaní informácií slúžia ako averzívne signály na zapojenie dodatočnej kognitívnej kontroly, ktorá pomáha v adaptácii na nasledujúce konflikty. Nedávny výskum ukázal, že činnostne orientovaní jedinci boli schopní regulovať negatívne emócie vyvolané konfliktom a adaptovať sa tak na nasledujúce konflikty efektívnejšie ako stavovo orientovaní jedinci. Naša štúdia vykonala experiment, v ktorom bola použitá Simonova úloha so zámerom reprodukovať tieto zistenia na behaviorálnej úrovni a rozšíriť ich na elektrofyziologickej úrovni analýzou amplitúdy N2, ktorá slúži ako index monitorovania konfliktu. Tejto štúdie sa zúčastnilo 100 ľudí. Účastníci vyplnili dotazník Action Control Scale (ACS-90) a subškála tohto dotazníka, orientácia na činnosť po zlyhaní verzus váhanie (AOF), bola použitá na výber 28 činnostne orientovaných jedincov a 31 stavovo orientovaných jedincov. Behaviorálne výsledky ukázali, že účastníci tejto štúdie zažili typický Simonov efekt a spomalenie po konflikte. Účastníci boli schopní adaptovať sa na konflikt a uvoľniť ich kognitívnu kontrolu v situáciách bez prítomnosti konfliktu. Pozorovali sme trend mierne lepšej schopnosti adaptácie na konflikt u činnostne orientovaných účastníkov v porovnaní so stavovo orientovanými účastníkmi. Táto analýza ale nedosiahla úroveň štatistickej významnosti. Rovnako aj výsledky analýz EEG dát neboli štatisticky významné. Táto práca môže obohatiť súčasný stav výskumu individuálnych rozdielov v adaptácii na konflikt.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with conflict adaptation abilities of action-oriented and state-oriented individuals. Conflicts in information processing serve as aversive signals to recruit additional cognitive control that enhances adaptation to conflicts that may follow. A recent study reported that action-oriented individuals were able to detach themselves from negative emotions induced by conflicts, and therefore adapt to conflicts more effectively than state-oriented individuals. The present study conducted a Simon task experiment with the aim of reproducing these findings on a behavioral level and extending them on an electrophysiological basis by analyzing the N2 amplitude which serves as a conflict monitoring index. In total, 100 people participated in this study. Participants were administered the Action Control Scale (ACS-90), and the action orientation after failure versus preoccupation (AOF) subscale of this questionnaire was used to further select 28 action-oriented and 31 state-oriented participants. The behavioral results showed that participants displayed the typical Simon effect and the post-conflict slowing. Participants were able to adapt to conflicts and relax their cognitive control when no conflict was present. We observed a trend of slightly better conflict adaptation abilities in action-oriented participants compared to state-oriented participants. However, these results did not reach statistical significance. The results of the analyses of the EEG data were nonsignificant. Our findings may enrich the current state of research into individual differences in conflict adaptation.
