Československý tvůrce Jiří Trnka se celosvětově proslavil svými kreslenými a loutkovými filmy. K jeho nejvýznamnějším dílům patří loutková adaptace mnohovrstevnaté divadelní hry Williama Shakespeara Sen noci svatojánské z roku 1959, kde Trnka zužitkoval své dlouholeté zkušenosti s loutkovou animací. Czechoslovakian animator Jiří Trnka was known as the master of traditional puppetry and his animated films earned him international acclaim. One of his most celebrated works is the puppet adaptation of Shakespeare’s multi-layered play A Midsummer Night's Dream from 1959, where Trnka makes use of his long-time experiences with puppet animation, taking it to a new level in the process.
